HMA’s (and Canada’s) inaugural Goodstock 24-hour give-back event is now over.  And what an amazing experience and wonderful success it was!

We invited charities from all over Vancouver and Toronto to send in applications telling us why they should be the recipients of 24 hours of free professional fundraising advice, design, copywriting, video web work and so much more.

Choosing was perhaps the most difficult part of the whole event, but we somehow narrowed it down to 4 Vancouver charities and 3 Toronto organizations.

Our new clients-for-a-day were:

Closing words...

...two days later!

I was at a loss for words as Goodstock 2009 came to a close around 10:15 Saturday morning- and not only because I couldn't physically string a sentence together...

At 9:00 am Saturday morning our charity representatives gathered into our boardroom eagerly anticipating what we had prepared for them.  We, team goodstock 24- hours, desperately tried to gather ourselves and show them how our hard work had paid off.  The result?  Success.  Each team delivered astonishingly eloquent and coherant presentations showcasing the impressive quality and quantity of work we had managed to create throughout the day and night.  As the presentations ended our exhaustion was met with enthusiastic applause, a few tears, snuggles from some cuddly creatures (on behalf of Small Animal Rescue Society) and immense gratitude and excitment from all the participating non-profits.  The positive feedback from the charities renewed our energy (a little..) and we all walked back into our offices (...new found homes...) proud of what we had accomplished and feeling surprisingly good.  Our first attempt at Goodstock was an immense success and while we don't want to think about it just yet... I think we'll be back for round 2 in 2010!  A big thank you to all of our sponsors, the 4 participating charities and our amazing volunteer designers and copywriters!

After many hours of deliberation we’ve finally made our selection of the charities who will be taking part in our first Goodstock.

We’ll be spending 24 hours working on lots of different projects for them all.

That’s right, the Toronto office is stepping up and getting on the Goodstock bandwagon!  Who says the West Coast has all the cool people?  We are really excited about this opportunity, and are looking forward to working with some local small nonprofits from within the GTA.

Goodstock Toronto will take place this December as well, and we are now accepting proposals.

So, if you’re a small, nonprofit from the GTA looking for FREE expertise in fundraising, design, and creative work, please visit www.harveymckinnon.com/goodstock.  Check out the RFP and submit your proposal by November 13.

Announcing Goodstock Vancouver

Apply for HMA’s 24-hour marathon of nonprofit madness!

We love small nonprofits. You're out there, doing important work on limited budgets, making a real difference.

There are probably a lot of things you don't do because you don't have the money to hire experts to help you.

Maybe you could benefit from help sorting out your yearly fundraising plan? Maybe you could use some help with designing a killer mail pack? Maybe you'd like to plan and shoot a promotional video or get an online fundraising program going?

This December, to celebrate the season of giving, we're getting our staff together to do a 24-hour marathon of free fundraising and marketing projects for small nonprofits. Would you like to tap into our expertise and experience and have fun as well? If you have a project that could use a kick-start take a look at the proposal requirements and send your idea along.

Remember, it all has to fit in 24 hours of work. But a lot can get done in 24 hours.

Because we’ll be working with local nonprofits, you can actually come into the office, brief us personally, and work with us on your project.

This whole idea is based on "Goodstock™", a project by Knupp & Watson. Thanks to them for the great idea! We’re proud to be the 1st Canadian agency launching our own Goodstock.

If you have any questions, please visit www.harveymckinnon.com/goodstock. The deadline for project submissions is 2 pm PST on November 13.
