Why you should build your monthly giving program now
Monthly giving is a great way to raise more money from your donor base and guarantee a minimum level of income each month. This helps with monthly overhead and cash flow. A monthly giving program will also lower your fundraising costs because monthly donors won’t receive every direct mail appeal.
When donors are upgraded to monthly giving, our analysis shows at least an 800% increase in income over a lifetime. Most monthly donors stay with an organization for 5-10 years — especially if they give via EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer). Some will give until they die. Monthly donors are also the people most likely to leave organizations money in their wills.
Monthly giving is less developed in the U.S. than in Canada and Europe, but we believe that this will not always be the case. In the meantime, establishing a monthly giving program is one of the ways an organization can stay ahead of its competition.
